Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust is taking a significant step forward in providing mental health support to young people in the region. Starting in April 2026, the trust will assume responsibility for delivering Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), previously provided by a health trust based in London.
This transition is designed to ensure continuity of care for patients currently accessing CAMHS, with minimal disruption expected as a result. According to the trust, individuals will continue to see the clinicians they are familiar with, at the same locations, and utilizing the same contact details. This aims to provide a seamless transition and alleviate any concerns about changes in care.
CAMHS provides a range of mental health support for children and adolescents, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and behavioral problems. The shift to local control is intended to improve access and responsiveness to the specific needs of the Kent and Medway community, ensuring that young people receive the support they need in a timely and effective manner.
